2018-2019 season
Seasons Review
As the 2018-19 season ends we look back on a successful and enjoyable time for our teams.
The season saw our very first girls team compete in the Cheshire Girls League at U9s and next season we continue to grow through the FA Wildcats scheme, entering girls at U9s U10s and U11s.
The U13s continued their success this season. Following their successful undefeated season the previous year at U12s, which saw them finish Champions of the second division, it was a step up to division 1 and a move to 11 a side, which has seen them achieve second spot! Eligible to enter the Cheshire County Cup at U13s they progressed through to the quarter finals only to miss out on penalties to the eventual winners.
The U12 Blues and U15 Yellows both got through to the semi finals in their League Cups and the U15 Yellows were victorious at the Egerton tournament, coming away with the Cup.
The U12 Whites had a nail biting end of season show down for top spot with Davenham. Both on the same points it came down to the last game of the season playing against each other. The game was played in the true spirit of football with respect on both sides but with Davenham coming away with the top spot by just 1 goal right at the end!
The Mini sessions for 4-6 Year olds on a Saturday and Sunday mornings run by Martin Greening of Goal Coaching continue to be really successful and yet again have produced our new U7s team for next season. Plus our mini soccer teams continue to grow in numbers constantly.
Thank you to everyone involved with the club this year – parents, players, team officials, committee members and our sponsors: we couldn’t do it without you!
We are also grateful to CHS for our continued partnership.
Let us hope the new season continues to be as enjoyable as the last, and the teams get the success they deserve.
U7s – Great 1st Season
U8s – Season 2018/2019
We are all looking forward to a new season and building on what we have achieved so far.
U12 Blue – 2018 / 2019 Season Review
What another fantastic season. We have played 32 games in total, winning 17, losing 8 and drawing 7. We reached the semi final of the cup AGAIN with some thrilling results along the way. We only lost to the eventual winners who play in the league above us, so nothing to be ashamed of – some great performances for us this year.
At an individual and team level we have improved technically and physically. You have drawn praise from opposition managers through out the season – I’m regularly told I have the best keeper in the league, the best centre half in the league and the best full back in the league. I think the distribution of goals across the team has been one of the most pleasing aspects, showing that we are playing as a team and creating chances for each other. Well done.
As we continue to train over the summer (don’t worry we will take a break) we will focus on that fitness and togetherness. What I have noticed this season in some games was that our togetherness got us results. When other teams were bickering and arguing with each other we were playing with a purpose, encouraging each other and not moaning when things went wrong (mostly :-))
We need to build on that, it’s a good habit, its infectious, it makes you stronger and harder to beat. So as Claire would say – positive pants on, both in training and on match days – turn up ready to play with the right attitude, be happy but determined, be friendly but focused. Be the best you possibly can be.
U13s – Rovers U14’s 2018/2019 Season Review
Following their successful undefeated season the previous year, which saw them finish Champions of the second division, it was a step up to the top league and a move to 11 a side.
The team set their sights high, with their goal to finish in the top half of the table and brought in two players in F.Evans and Statham to help achieve this.A marker was laid in the very first game, as they were only just defeated by last years winners and firm favourites again this year – Willaston White Star.
Training was stepped up, both for development and fitness, which started to show on the pitch.
Rovers are a side that want to play football right through the team and given the pitch to play on, they were a match for anyone.
One such highlight was reaching the quarter finals of the Cheshire Cup, only to concede an injury time equaliser and miss out on penalties to the eventual winners. This was a stunning game of football from both teams, not knowing until the end, that Rovers opponents – Appleton, hadn’t lost a game for over 2 and half years.
As the season drew to a close, Rovers knew three wins in their last three games – two against their closest rivals, would secure runners up.
The boys didn’t disappoint and won all three games to claim their runners-up medals and also finish as the league top scorers.
During the season Jack Riley was scouted by Manchester City and after five months of training was referred by them to one of their associate clubs – Port Vale.
Following successful trials at Port Vale, Jack was offered an academy contract for the 2019/2020 season, which is nothing less than he deserves.
All the coaches are immensely proud of the boys achievements and look forward to helping them continue to develop next season.
